Happy Birthday Tara!!

On June 21st I turned 25. I'm becoming an old lady but it was a very fun day! We decided to celebrate my birthday on June 20th since fathers day was on the 21st. It was a very very fun day.

We decided to cheat from our diet since it was my birthday. We went out to breakfast at The Amber Restaurant, which is one of my favorite places to have breakfast these days. I had a delicious scone and hash browns and Steve had his usual Omelet. We noticed right away that we were no longer as hungry and greasy foods weren't sounding good. It was a very yummy breakfast.

After breakfast we went to Ashley furniture and looked at their sectionals and couches. It was nice to find a place with cheap furniture that was modern in style and comfortable. We found two different sectionals we liked for the basement and a living room set for the upstairs. Who knows maybe someday we will get our debt taken care of from not getting paid and get them.

After that we went to Steve's parents house to borrow one of their cars so we could go to Ikea and pick up the entertainment center we were getting for my birthday. Boy and Fin joined us and we wandered around the store, looked at desks then went and grabbed all the pieces we needed. Unfortunately they didn't have the doors in stock so I had to pick those up at a later date.

After Ikea Steve and I went home and put as much of it together as possible. It's really nice. It has a top piece that hangs on the wall and has two shelves covered by frosted glass doors. The wood for the top and bottom is my favorite finish, beech! The bottom has six shelves, three on each side, silver legs at the base and then solid wood doors. It's awesome to be able to have all of our systems in one place with easy access. I'm a little worried about over heating but we will see if that ends up being an issue.

After putting together the entertainment center we stopped by at my friend Corey's wedding reception. It was a really nice reception and she looked beautiful. Hopefully we can hang out again after they get back from Hawaii.

After the reception we went out to dinner at Koyo. One of my favorite restaurants. It may be my favorite. We had delicious tsukiyaki, which is a rice noodle soup in a beef broth with beef and lots of vegetables. They also have an amazing salad and the best Miso soup I have ever had. After that we went home and watched Naruto then went to bed.

The night before we celebrated my birthday with our friends Sara, Beardman, Teenie and Logan. Steve went home early from work and decorated the whole upstairs with balloons and streamers! It looked so good!! He did such a great job! It meant so much to me that he took the time to do that. Around six everyone brought over their own food since Steve and I couldn't really eat anything. We ate together then went and saw the movie the Hangover. It was a great movie and kept us laughing the whole time. After the movie we went back to our place and played Street Fighter IV until people were ready to call it a night. We sang happy birthday but instead of cake they put candles in strawberries so I could eat it. It was awesome.

We actually celebrated my birthday with my family at the same time we did Meg's so that I could eat a little more food, so I will talk about that in another post.

We did a combined fathers day, birthday dinner for everyone in Steve's family on the 21st but I will also talk about that in another post.

It was a really good birthday. The one thing I learned this year is that its important to watch your finances and be prepared for emergencies, such as not getting paid for five pay checks. It's funny because you always hear people say money doesn't buy happiness and I really believe it now. Even though times were really tough and we didn't have much money, it was some of the happiest times and Steve and I grew really close. I feel we can handle anything. So it was a good year for life lessons. I can't wait to see what this next year brings.
